We are writing as concerned citizens and voters living in Wood County, Ohio.
What we, as Wood County Citizens, cannot evade, is the water and air pollution inevitably caused by the millions of gallons of liquid manure produced by these factory dairy farms. Currently, the runoff from the Manders’ Factory Farm enters the Jackson Cutoff, travels to Tontogany Creek West, then directly into the Maumee River approximately 1/4 mile upriver from the Bowling Green Water Treatment intake, which supplies Bowling Green City and other Communities with their drinking water. Contamination of area wells is just as inevitable, as is the diminuation in value of all of our family homes and farms.
All of these factory dairy farms, as well as factory farms in Henry, Putnam and Defiance Counties in Ohio and factory farms in Hudson, Michigan will also contribute to water pollution in the Maumee River and Lake Erie.
We are asking all elected officials to support a MORATORIUM on all factory farms in Ohio large enough to need a waste storage pond. You may contact us, or WOOD COUNTY CITIZENS OPPOSED TO FACTORY FARMS (P.O Box 924, Bowling Green, Ohio 43402) for any additional information. Your support will be appreciated and returned at election time.
Sincerely,
