PETITION TO STOP
FACTORY FARMS

Dear Governor Strickland,

We, the concerned citizens of Wood County, Ohio and other areas similarly situated, hereby formally petition and request that you, as our Governor, immediately issue a Moratorium on the building and installation of factory farms in the State of Ohio. The negative effects of such operations are well documented and include surface and ground water pollution from improper land application of manure (resulting in run-off); lagoon leakage, seepage, and overflow; all of which result in contamination of our ground water, streams, rivers, and drinking water supplies. Please take immediate action to protect Ohio's family farmers, their farmland, water and air quality, and the health and welfare of Ohio's citizens by declaring a Moratorium on the building and installation of large animal feeding operations. Your prompt attention, concern, and action will be greatly appreciated by the citizens of Ohio.
